Jeffrey M. Aresty is a Massachusetts international business and e-commerce lawyer who has led the non-profit Internet Bar Organization since 2005. IBO’s mission is to promote and shape the emerging online justice community by using technology and the Rule of Law to promote human rights and alleviate poverty. Jeff Aresty is a mediator, lawyer, and legal technology pioneer.
Jeff is the President of Aresty International Law Offices in Massachusetts,which provides consulting, mediation and legal services to individuals, corporations, and law firms around the world. Mr. Aresty is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. In addition to his law degree (Boston University Law, 1976), he also earned masters of laws degrees in taxation (1979) and international banking (1993) from Boston University Law School, and he has completed training as an international commercial arbitrator.
His work has included facilitating and negotiating international mergers, joint-ventures, and partnerships, advising real estate firms, condo boards, housing associations and private landowners, as well as providing alternative dispute resolution services and innovative collaborative lawyering. More recently, his work has focused on leveraging technology to resolve client disputes and to create systems for businesses and organizations to facilitate the resolution of their own disputes.
He is an expert, published author and teacher in the fields of international law, justice and technology, international business negotiations, cyberlaw, online dispute resolution, technology and dispute resolution, and estate planning. He is currently co-chairman of the ABA International Commercial Negotiations Task Force and also served as co-chair of ABA International Law Section’s Information Services, Technology, and Data Protection Committee.
